Title of website:  Childhelp USA

URL of website:  http://www.childhelpusa.org/

Score:  4

Annotation: Childhelp USA began in 1959 and is a premier organization designed to meet the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of abused and neglected children. Their strongest focus is prevention in the areas of treatment, prevention, and research. In 1982 they began operation of the first national toll-free child abuse hotline (1-800-4-A-CHILDŽ), 24 hours a day.  This hotline is critical for intervention efforts with regard to suspected child abuse.  Childhelp USA is most well known for this service.  One particular feature of this site is the “Kids & Teens” section which explains what child abuse is and how to receive help.  I particularly appreciate the thoughtful manner in which they explain this to young people and know that they have made a difference in their 46 years of work.

Annotation: The RAINN Website offers information regarding child, teen and adult protection and intervention.  One can view a range of referenced, statistical data that is helpful to those seeking funding for prevention programs or increased dollars for intervention.  Personal stories are shared and published while additional stories are invited.  Parents can locate the link provided here to the U.
